Information assurance requires systems and networks that are ultra-secure and reliable. During times of crisis, communication networks must continue to process information reliably, securely and effectively. Support for the mission of Homeland Security will require innovative systems that can prevent cyber attacks and enhance information assurance. These systems need to be highly adaptable, extremely reliable and very cost effective.
Staunch industry, government and university partnerships are needed to develop novel proactive security methods. These methods will complement conventional "detect-respond-recover" paradigms that make the system very difficult to compromise, completely prevent the theft or corruption of critical data, and provide high-confidence assurances that critical infrastructures will continue to operate normally in spite of successful attacks. |
