The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Homeland Security Alliance launched its inaugural Technology Solutions Expo to a full house at the Eisemann Center today, with GrowthNet playing a major role in the Expo's success. Congressman Jeb Hensarling kicked off the Expo with his breakfast speech that praised the Alliance's crucial initiatives and challenged the Alliance to bring new solutions to the forefont rapidly for funding and implementation.
Varied major firms such as Boeing, Nortel Networks, Raytheon, and MCI took part in the conference, illustrating how Homeland Security involves a creative and eclectic mix of technical solutions (both emerging and established) selected from telecommunications, defense, IT, security, electronics, and other industries. The Expo included speaker panels on topics ranging from facility and cyber security to emergency response and regional technology integration. The Homeland Security Technology Solutions Expo was covered by local newspapers, business and industry publications, television, and radio stations.
GrowthNet played key roles in the development and launch of the Homeland Security Expo. GrowthNet co-founded the DFW Homeland Security Alliance; chairs the Energy working group; recruited the event's title, other sponsors and advertisers, speakers, exhibitors and new members; designed, developed, hosted, and maintained the Expo's online Conference Awareness System; designed the Expo's financial and working group models and processes; and created the imagery needed for the conference's banners, advertisements, hard copy collaterals, polo shirts and letterhead. Using GrowthNet's internet solution as the communications lynch pin, the Alliance was able to organize and design the conference, promote the event via print, radio and TV, enlist over 65 distinguished speakers and panel members, and attract qualified Expo exhibitors in just six weeks.
The Expo provided numerous networking activities to stimulate business throughout the conference and concluded with a gala dinner and guest speakers. At the dinner, Congressman Pete Sessions described the "new realities" in Washington (such as anti-air missile batteries now positioned at the White House, a new (long-term) "Cold War" analogy to terrorists threats, new 'what if' scenarios (like "Would we launch cruise missiles at international terrorists in retaliation for cyber attacks?"), and a commitment to fund new Homeland Security solutions that will protect our nation now.
At the Expo and dinner, GrowthNet (and Bud Browne in particular) received public recognition for their contribution to the Expo and Alliance and for the effectiveness of its communication systems. "We could not have done this without GrowthNet", said key conference organizer, Maria Smith, "That's why we announced today that we have designated GrowthNet to be our Alliance's business communication systems provider going forward."
The Alliance is currently organizing a series of conferences and expos and is considering expansion to other major Texas cities, such as Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso.
